Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Siddharth Pithani in a drug case involving the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in Hyderabad on Friday.
Siddharth was Sushant’s creative manager and flatmate and he was interrogated for the first time by the Mumbai police a few days after his death. Pithani was hired by Sushant to work on a project in 2018. The Mumbai Police said that Pithani knew that Sushant had been given medication for depression, but had stopped taking these drugs in the days of his death.
At that time, a senior police officer told The Indian Express, “Pithani told us that he did not know the reason for Rajput being depressed. As he was staying at Rajput’s house, however, he had heard the actor’s staff saying that he had stopped taking drugs in the last few weeks as he felt better. “
According to the PTI report, Pithani sent an email to Mumbai Police In which he said that he was being “pressurized by Rajput’s family to record a statement against his girlfriend Riya Chakraborty.”
Siddharth Enforcement Directorate also questioned Pithani In connection with the investigation into the money laundering case related to the death of the actor.
When the CBI took up the case, Pithani was questioned by him in August at the DRDO Guest House in Kalina in Santacruz, Mumbai. The CBI had taken Pithani, cook Neeraj Singh and domestic help Dipesh Sawant from June 14 to reconstruct the events at the late actor’s home.
The Indian Express reported in September that during an interrogation session, Sushant’s girlfriend Riya Chakraborty “first encountered Pithani”.
Siddharth Pithani was reportedly present at the actor’s residence when he was found dead.
