Besan chilla is a quick and easy Indian vegetarian recipe that is delicious and can be enjoyed for breakfast.

How to make

Here is how to make besan chilla in five minutes.

Mix and rest

Mix 1 cup besan, a pinch of salt, onion, chilli powder, ajwain, green chilli and 1 cup water. Make a thick paste and leave it to rest.

Heat oil

While your batter is resting, heat 1-2tbsp oil and set it aside in a container.

Pour batter

In a frying pan, pour some batter and spread it out a little so that the shape is a circle. Keep the heat high.

Cook

Now lower the heat and cook it till the edges turn brown so that it can be lifted easily.

Add hot oil

Dribble some of the oil you heated earlier around the chilla and let it go under it.

Flip and serve

Flip it over to cook slightly on the other side and before serving it hot.
