We asked 12 Boston startups about their diversity efforts – TipsClear

Boston’s technology boom There is a huge need for talent related to technology. But while the Massachusetts has brought about 72,000 new tech jobs over the past decade, this increase reflects the progress they make with who actually fills their roles. (Spoiler: It’s largely blondes.)

According to MassTLC, today it will take black workers up to 2085 to hire the same number of white men in the industry. For Latino, it will take until 2045. And for women, it will take until 2070.

In this month’s Boston column, we decided to investigate the region’s diversity efforts. Boston is a city historically defined by a racist reputation and a university-run liberal bonfire. As companies across the country have reacted to systemic racism with the promise of hiring, when it comes to hiring, we wondered: Has Boston stepped into the plates when it comes to less-than-expected candidates Comes to Hire?

Using a list generated by a simple, timed crunchbase search for recent Boston-area fundraising events. We turned to 15 companies that have recently grown within Boston and asked about their diversity efforts:

  • LifePod Solutions
  • Jellyfish
  • All education
  • Canvas gfx
  • PIC Therapeutic
  • Wear time

Only a few companies responded, which was not a good sign. Boston has a record of releasing diversified data, so silence was expected if there was a slight disappointment. Let us review the responses that we see to what we can learn from both answers (and nonanswers).
