Vizio SB3621 review: The king of the budget soundbars
You can call it a revolution, or you can call it a trend, but something exciting is happening at the budget end of home theater. In the past you had to spend a lot of money to get a great performance. But thanks to brands like Elac, Pioneer and Vizio, you don’t have to spend thousands – you’ll barely have to spend hundreds.
At $ 150, the Vizio SB 3621 N-E8’s sound depends on its compact size and oh-so-cheap price. We will have high praise for this soundbar system even if it is double the price. This is easily the best sounding affordable sound bar we’ve heard to date.
There are no “features” to speak of just the wireless subwoofer and Bluetooth, but at this price you really don’t need more than that. With Google’s Chromecast Audio, the Vizio SB3621n-E8 is now one of the best deals in home theater. You can also connect the two together, hook them up on a TCL Roku TV and you have a very good wireless streaming AV system for $ 500.
Put aside Yamaha, JBL, Zwox and Polk: Vizio SB 3621 is now paying less than $ 300. This is the first soundbar we’ve ever reviewed that earned five stars, and easily deserves our Editors’ Choice Award.
36 inch handsome
Given its crazy-cheap price, you’d expect something Is it wrong to be wrong with the video? The sub may be made of plywood or remote-like to look like it originated from a gumball machine. But no, you wouldn’t know how cheap the soundbar was, based on its quality.
Keep Visio soundbar with similar priceAnd there is no competition. The JBL looks cheap, but the Vijeo offers a quiet sense of style. As the model number suggests, it’s a 36-inch-wide soundbar, which is relatively compact, and its 2.1-inch height means that it can’t stop your remote control from working.
The top of the unit has minimal control. We found that they can be a bit sluggish but they are very useful if you lose a remote. In front of the bar is Vijeo’s alarming “performance”: “The volume level gauge is quite useful, but the series of dots it uses for input selection is almost impenetrable. The remote control is also a bit misleading, but at least it’s a proper stick. Is and does not have a plastic credit card like every other remote on price.
The included wireless sub does not skimp on quality. It is a well-constructed black and silver shoe visor that comes with a 5-inch woofer. This unit helps to move the entire system to an approximate 50 Hz, which is enough for a system of this size and value.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the Vizio has two digital inputs – a coaxial and an optical – plus USB (for WAV playback and MP3, oddly) and a 3.5mm jack. The soundbar also includes Bluetooth connectivity. It will decode both the vanilla versions of Dolby and DTS Dolby Digital and provide DTS sound mode instead of decoding, which is a bit strange.
