Sasikala Om Prakash Sehgal died on Sunday. She was 88 years old. Sasikala, more popular than her maiden name, has become famous as various supporting characters in films like Bimala, Sujatha, Aarti, Anupama, Waqt, Gumrah, Khubh Sundar.
Indian politician and businessman Praful Patel tweeted this news and wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran actress Sasikala ji. He made a significant contribution to Indian cinema by playing many important roles. My heartfelt condolences to his family members. may her soul rest in peace.”

Sasikala was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri in 2007 by the Government of India for her unique contribution to the world of cinema and art. He received a 2009 V. Shantaram Award was also conferred with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Also received two Filmfare Awards for his work in Sasikala Aarti and Gumrah.
Sasikala played supporting roles in more than 100 films.
Born on August 4, 1932 in Solapur district, Maharashtra, Sasikala was one of the six children who started dominating the arts from a very young age. Sasikala has two daughters from her marriage to Om Prakash Sehgal.
Sasikala was last seen in the 2005 Padma Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, in which she played the role of a South African witness.
