Director Venky Atluri, who is famous for Tholiprema and Mr. Majnu, is all set to entertain theater-goers with his third directorial venture, Rang De. With the music and cinematography of Devi Sri Prasad by PC Sriram, the film stars Nithin and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles.

Before the film’s release on March 26, Venky Atluri interacted with the media and shared his views. Excerpts from the conversation are as follows:

How was the idea of Rang De?

Instead of tapping into larger-than-life characters, I wanted to make a film on family feelings with the boy next door. The idea of Rang De started from there.

What about the original plot of the film?

The main characters in the film are neighbors, and the story depicts their love-hate relationship. What happens when their relationship as their enemies reaches the point of their marriage is the film’s origin story.

Why is it called Rang De?

We say that each color in the rainbow represents a feeling. Our film also has so many emotions, and hence the title Rang De. Comedy in the first half and emotional journey in the second half will be the main attraction of the film.

Tell us about your work experience with Nitin and Keerthy Suresh?

Me and Nithin have known each other for the last 15 years. Therefore, I felt very comfortable working with him. When it comes to Kirti Suresh, I got a little nervous because she has gained a lot of fame with greatness. But to my surprise, he created a friendly atmosphere on the set.

Both Nithin and Keerthi believed strongly in the story and played their respective roles.

How was it working with veteran PC Shriram?

I never thought that I would work with him. He asked me for a script bound in English to make sure he knew about the scenes. He said that he really likes it. When he is on the set, no one will be seen resting from his work. In this way, we completed filming of Rang De in 64 days.

Tell us about your upcoming projects?

My next film will be produced jointly by Dil Raju and Sithara Entertainment.
