The much-awaited teaser of Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Tughlaq Darbar was released on Monday. The teaser introduces Sethupathi’s character, who has a unique status. He cannot, at times, stop himself from aggressively and repeatedly closing his left eye. Maybe, when he tries to hide something, it is a telltale sign. Nevertheless, there seems to be a comic validity to such oddities, especially when Sethupathi does so.
Sethupathi played the role of a short-term memory loss patient in Naduvula Konjam Pakkath Kannom. Interestingly, Tughlaq Durbar director Deliprasad Deendayalan was the casting director of the 2012 comedy drama which put Sethupathi on the map.
Deliprasad Deendayalan is making his directorial debut with Tughlaq Durbar, which is said to be an entertaining political drama. While watching the teaser, Sethupathi plays a character who favors a big-shot politician played by Parthiban. It seems that Sethupathi’s character also suffers from a moral conflict or several types of personality disorder. Either way, he is likely to become his master’s torment.
The Tughlaq court made Vijay Sethupathi’s second collaboration with Parthiban. The two had previously shared screen space in Vignesh Shivan’s hit comedy drama Naanam Rowdy Dhawan. It seems that both are ready to tickle our funny bones with the Tughlaq court once again.
The film also stars Manjima Mohan and Rashi Khanna in lead roles.
Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is awaiting the release of the master. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 13.
