Microsoft is getting the next update for Windows 10 ready for release. One of the final Windows 10 May 2021 update test builds is now for the Windows Insider beta tester, meaning that the general public can release on their PCs for a few weeks.
Although the overall experience can be improved between now and the last public release, Windows Insiders can choose to install this update now by downloading Windows 10 21H1 Build 19043.928 in the Release Preview channel. This build can be downloaded on any new PC as an ISO file for a clean installation, in which the computer will be enrolled in the Insider program.
Unlike previous releases, there are no major new features for the Windows 10 May 2021 update with Windows 10 – so it may not be worth the initial download. This is because the subject of major Windows 10 updates has changed in the last two years.
Microsoft now wants to start the year by patching bugs and security issues in Windows 10 in the spring, then ending the year by adding new features with a subsequent Fall update. This means that, as Microsoft last noted, the Windows 10 May 2021 update will only come with a scope set to improve security, remote access, and overall quality of Windows. Multimakera support for Windows Hello and performance improvements for Windows Defender Application Guard are some of the things that are new.
For anyone expecting major design changes in Windows 10, you’ll have to wait until the fall. A major rumor that an update this fall, the code-named Sun Valley, could rejuvenate the operating system with a new start menu and design elements. Code for Recently Spotted And a dev channel is hidden in the Windows Insider build. It is also rumored that the May 2021 update contains some code required for these changes.
If you are eager to try the May 2021 update, the best way is to choose your PC in the Release Preview Windows Insider program and then click and download it through Windows Update. check for updates. It is the safest branch of the program, and doing so poses very little risk to your PC.
Microsoft, however, is offering the update only to “seekers” in the preview channel, or those who wish to download it manually manually. You will see a message in the Windows Update Instance Feature update on Windows 10, 21H1 If this applies to you, and you can download the update by clicking Download and install.
Otherwise, you will need to wait a few more weeks until Microsoft excludes it from all those who are not beta testers. This update will install as of last year’s October 2020 release, as a regular security patch that you do not need to stay away from your PC for long. It is likely to arrive on May 11, known as “Patch Tuesday”, a day reserved for regular Windows 10 updates.
