Dwayne Johnson is giving back this holiday season with a shiny new pickup truck by surprisingly longtime WWE employee Bruno Lauer. Lauer, who performed on camera as ringer manager Harvey Wippleman in the early 90s, was for The Rock before Johnson gained fame as a professional wrestler. Now to show his gratitude for Laur’s generosity, Johnson gifted him with a new Ford F-150 and the results have been shared on Instagram.
In the caption of the video, Dwayne Johnson Tells the full story of his relationship with Lauer. As a child, Johnson and his mother were evicted from the island of Hawaii, so he was sent to Nashville, Tennessee to live with his father. As Johnson says, “plans change,” and he finds that living with his father was not an option. The Rock was then told that he was staying with Bruno in a small room in a palace called the Alamo Plaza Motel.
“Bruno can (and should) get said hell no, I’m ‘not’ in some kids that I don’t know,” Johnson says. “But he wasn’t. He took this punk kid in and we became lifelong friends. Then ironically – about 9 years later when I had the infamous ‘$ 7 Bucks’ in my pocket – I drove to Memphis, Tennessee and AGAIN.” Started my wrestling career. – There was no place to live and Bruno took me and let me move in his trailer, I could get on my feet. “
Coming back to the automobile, Johnson also writes, “And hell, when I was 15 years old, Bruno even gave me his last $ 40, so I was in a Tonk in Nashville with a crackhead outside his car. Could have planted. But the hustle. Was on top of me, because when I came down the road I passed backwards on the floor in a second! “
The wrestler goes on to say, “Merry Christmas, Bruno and since you helped me buy my first car” – I figured I could return the favor and buy you one that doesn’t have 100% crackhead on the back seat! Love you, brother! “Your kindness and heart – helped change the trajectory of my life.”
The Instagram video is a heart-wrenching watch, as words are lost when Lour gets a gift. After taking a seat in the truck for the first time, Lauer began to tell that no one had ever done this to him before.
“I love you, man. Not because of this – because of who you are” says Lauer. “I can’t believe it. Thank you, man. Thank you Lord Jesus for putting him in my life.”
