“The Crown,” Netflix The grand historical drama, about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, is back for a fourth season that focuses on Elizabeth’s relationship with Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and Prince Charles’s distraught marriage to Diana’s princess.
We hold conflicting opinions about the previous seasons of the show, and the new season has not settled those disagreements at all, as we point out on the latest episodes of the original content podcast.
Anthony and (especially) Jordan remain fans of the show, and they found season four particularly compelling. Yes, the monarchy is a bit ridiculous and “The Crown” has a tendency to simplify real-world events, but its return to Charles-Diana’s relationship is heartbreaking, and also takes time to show some of the pitfalls it has caused. is. Thatcher’s policies.
On the other hand, Darrell remains a subject of doubt, with little patience to pay attention to the royal family. He was particularly exaggerated by the show’s deviations from historical reality, and the performances (especially Thatcher as Gillian Anderson) that felt like cheesy, “Saturday Night Live” -style imitations.
In addition to reviewing the show, we also discuss this week’s announcement that “Wonder Woman 1984” will take place in both theaters and on HBO Max on 25 December.
