The Emmy Award winner, born in London to Zimbabwe’s mother and English father, announced that she would once include ‘W’ in her stage name, meaning dear to Zimbabwe’s Shona language.

Newton said she suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after experiencing abuse at the hands of a director.
