Kangana Ranaut’s debut song led to Thalaivi, a film based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor J Jayalalithaa. Titled “Chali Chali”, the song marks the ‘golden era of Jayalalithaa’. The song is sung by Sadhvi Prakash and lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil.
Jayalalithaa’s journey in Indian cinema is “Chali Chali”. In it, Kangana has recreated many of the late actor’s looks, beginning with her debut film. She looks gorgeous as she mimics the charm that Jayalalithaa wore on her birthday.
Jayalalithaa acted in more than 120 films in many languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. He also acted in an 1961 English film, Epistle. He made his debut in Kollywood with the 1965 film Vennira Aurai.
Kangana shared the teaser on Thursday before releasing the song today. Sharing this, the 34-year-old actor wrote, “The time capsule of #Thalaivi’s superstar era has arrived. Get ready to be mesmerized by her aura! “

It showed how Jayalalithaa was forced to make a comeback to the world of politics, changing from the top female star of the Tamil film industry. The trailer also starred MGR as actor Arvind Swamy, who was Jayalalithaa’s mentor.
Thalaivi is directed by AL Vijay and scripted by KV Vijayendra Prasad, author of Bahubali. At the trailer launch of the film, Kangana praised her director Vijay. “When I talk about him I speak very few words. The thought of him brings a smile to my face wherever I am. The first time we met, we were doing a makeup test in California. And he was alive only on water. Because he cannot eat even in places where cruelty is revealed. I thought he thought he was a very strange person.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23.
