Stellantis and Foxconn buddy up for future electric cars in China

Foxconn is making a lot of automotive friends.

The companies did not divulge more details about the new partnership, but Stellantis is eager to resume in China. The country remains the world’s largest market for new vehicles, and Stellantis isn’t exactly at the top of the sales chart there. The Foxconn partnership, however, may allow the automaker to deal with China better, especially with the electronics company’s presence locally.

However, both will not jump directly into producing EVs. Stellantis and Foxconn may have previously worked on in-car technology to get the ball rolling, but it’s clear that big plans for EVs and even a solid-state battery are in the pipeline. In addition to Stellantis, there are plans to work with Foxconn Chinese startup byton And US startups Fisker To help launch other electric vehicles. The Taiwanese group showcased its EV platform and related technology last year, showing the world that it is ready to do more than build smartphones.
