Sonu Nigam took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video where she spoke about West Tripura District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav, who interrupted a wedding ceremony for more than the curfew time.
Nigam uploaded an Instagram video with the caption, “District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Yadav, it is very disappointing.” In the video, Nigam said that he was badly upset after watching the video, where the District Magistrate entered the wedding ceremony and shouted at the groom and guests.
Sonu Nigam objected to the fact that Yadav spoke rudely at the wedding party. “How dare you talk to people like this?” he said. The singer insisted that the officer ruined the special day for the family. He said that even if the family is breaking the rules, the DM should be respectful and should not show such disrespect. He said that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi respects citizens unlike Yadav.
On Tuesday, at the Manikya court in Tripura to interrupt the marriage, Sailesh Kumar Yadav apologized, stating that he did not intend to “hurt anyone’s feelings”. The DM said that all those involved in the ceremony were in violation of Section 144. More than 30 people were arrested and later released.
Yadav said in his apology, “I did it last night during the curfew period and was for the benefit and well-being of the people. My intention was not to hurt or offend anyone’s feelings.”
