Veteran playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has been battling Kovid-19 since last month, which is in extremely critical condition on Thursday.
A bulletin from MGM Healthcare in Chennai said that his condition had deteriorated, leading to maximum life support.
Famous as SPB, the famous singer was hospitalized in early August with mild symptoms. Subsequently, he posted a video on social media stating that he was “all right”.
On August 13, he was moved to the intensive care unit as his oxygen saturation level dropped. He has since been associated with life support.
Balasubrahmanyam underwent plasma therapy and physiotherapy at a later stage, when his condition began to improve.
He remained on ventilator and ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support. But when his condition remained critical, he was stable and responding to doctors.
SPB’s son, SP Charan, often released information about him. And, as recently as on September 19, he revealed that his father had begun oral intake of food.
Charan had said, “This will help them become stronger and should take care of other vitamins as well.”
