The next time Arjun Kapoor, who is seen in Sardar Ka grandson, believes that his biggest achievement in his nearly decade-long career is to reach a position where he can refuse for a role that does not suit him. The 35-year-old actor began his journey as an assistant director and made his acting debut in 2012 with Yash Raj Films’ romantic drama Ishqzaade.
He has starred in commercially successful titles such as Gunday, 2 States and Key & Ka as well as critically acclaimed projects Aurangzeb and Finding Fanny.
Arjun Kapoor said that he is satisfied with the way things have unfolded for him in the film industry. “I am very happy and satisfied that in my eight-nine-year career, I have reached a place where I have no ability to say no. This is a huge power that an actor can have – to decide not to go to work or to say ‘I don’t want to do this film’, the actor told PTI in a Zoom interview.
“It’s a big accomplishment if you think you’re self-sufficient and can decide whether you want to work or not,” he said.
The actor’s upcoming films include Sardar Ka Grandson, which premieres exclusively on Netflix on Tuesday, the adventure-horror-comedy Bhoot Police, an action-thriller Ek Villain Returns directed by Mohit Suri, and a remake of the Tamil comedy Komali.
Directed by Pawan Kripalani, Bhoot Police, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, is set to hit theaters on September 10, while Ek Villain Returns is set to release theatrically on February 11, 2022.
Arjun Kapoor said that as an artist he is never satisfied and always wishes to pursue himself with every role.
“I always yearn to do better, I want to do better … Creatively I am never satisfied and I am very emotional and involved in every film I make. That round and journey will continue.” He feels grateful that he has the ability to carry the films on his shoulders and reach the audience. “Today, when I do a film, I know that it will be made, it will be done, and because of this people will get work. As an actor I have the ability to help a film come true, it is an achievement. “
