Samsung introduced a slew of new products at CES 2021, including robotic vacuums, smart fridges, massive microLED TVs, digital cockpit concepts for driverless cars, a new chromebook with QLED screens, and even the future of your dreams. The robot is also included. But the company has been remarkably quiet when it arrives in 2021 for its new soundbar, which is strange because they look like they could be pretty spectacular.

It is a small lineup, with only three new models, but it is clear that Samsung is not messing around. Its new flagship, the HW-Q950A, boasts an astonishing 11.1.4 channel configuration with 21 custom-designed speakers. Four of them are altitude-channel up-firing drivers (two of which are located on the surround speakers) that provide the necessary immersive 3D sound for both Dolby Atmos and DTS: X.
The sleek, black soundbar comes with a fairly large wireless subwoofer. You can’t tell from the official photos, but that subwoofer includes Samsung’s Auto EQ technology: a built-in microphone with Samsung’s AI Equalizer technology to tell how sound travels and reflects around your room.
Samsung refers to this system as Space Fit, which is essentially a new name for adaptive sound. Unlike other soundbars that require the use of an accessory mic for room tuning or Sonos Trueplay, which requires you to move an iPhone around for a single purpose, Space Fit is fully automatic. Better, if you combine the HW-Q950A with the Samsung 2020/2021 QLED TV, the TV’s built-in microphone can be used more accurately.
Those room-sensing mixes are also used with Samsung’s Active Voice Amplifier which increases the volume of communication when the room has background noise.
On a related note, pairing the HW-Q950A with Samsung QLED TVs with 2020/2021 also enables Q-Symphony, which makes the TV’s top speakers sound even more impressive with the up-firing drivers of the soundbar Synchronizes to.
Samsung’s embedded tap sound feature uses NFC so you can tap a compatible smartphone on the soundbar and start audio streaming over Bluetooth without the need to mess with pairing processes. Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant is built-in, but we expect the soundbar to be run via Google Assistant as well if you already own a Google Smart Speaker.
The HW-Q950A features an impressive feature set with rounding HDMI ARC / EARC, one-click bass-boost function and Samsung One remote.
How much will the HW-Q950A cost? We can’t say for sure, but when you consider that its predecessor, the HW-Q950T, typically sells for $ 1,800 and has fewer channels and features, we’re guessing that $ 1,800 is the least you can pay. Can hope to do when it finally debuts later. year.
If it’s too rich for your blood, you might consider the HW-Q800A, a Dolby Atmos, and the DTS: X soundbar that share the same design and many features of the HW-Q950A.
With a 3.1.2 channel setup, it will be a lot more affordable than the flagship. The current HW-Q70T, which is also a 3.1.2 system, seems to be the closest match and it currently sells for $ 700. What is appealing about the HW-Q800A is that you can enhance your nearby audio capabilities with an optional set of wireless surround sound speakers, which will bring it up to 5.1.4 systems.
Among the features of the HW-Q950A that have also adopted the HW-Q800A are the Samsung Acoustic Beam, Q-Symphony, Space Fit Sound, Adaptive Sound, Active Voice Amplifier, Tap Sound, 1-Click Base Faust and Game Mode. Are pro.
Finally, Samsung included an image of a product, referred to only as a lifestyle soundbar. We know almost nothing about it, other than that it appears that it is a round shape that is further softened by the use of a cloth cover covering the entire fabric. The side-firing speaker grille can be seen at the ends and a set of top-mounted controls is also visible. It’s hard to tell, but it seems to be narrower than the HW-Q950A, perhaps a smaller 27-inch one, which could make it a good choice for the bedroom as well as the main TV room.
Obviously we do not have a lot of information yet, but as soon as we get more information from Samsung, we will update you with everything you have learned.
