Samsung’s New Short Throw Projector Packs 130 Inches Of 4K

Samsung is not joining the IFA 2020, but that hasn’t stopped the tech giant from trying to steal from this route.

At its virtual “Life Unstoppable” press conference, Samsung announced Premiere, a 4K ultra-short-throw laser projector that the company calls “the new anchor product” in Samsung’s lifestyle product portfolio, including The Frame, The Sero, and This roof

Samsung did not specify a price for this new product, but said that Premier will be available in 130-inch (LSP9T) and 120-inch (LSP7T) models, and will roll out globally later this year .

Here we know about The Premiere.

The design

Samsung says that Premier includes an “all-in-one, compact, space-saving design” that makes it ideal for a variety of room settings and arrangements. Being ultra-short-throw, The Premiere can be placed directly in front of the wall or screen on which it is projecting, eliminating the need to mount the projector to the back of the room. Of course, this is not at all a possibility for many room living conditions.

The Premier has powerful built-in woofer and acoustic beam surround sound, which Samsung says “reduces the need for additional sound equipment in tight spaces.” From our experiences, we will proceed with caution in this area. Premiere may well provide a sound that you can hear, but generally, projectors do not have the ability to produce a sound that matches the larger-than-life screen size they are projecting . It might be best to pair some external sound with this projector, even if the built-in sound system decenters the sound.

Features

According to the company, The Premiere is the world’s first projector to be certified as HDR10 +, equipped with triple laser technology and delivers up to 2,800 ANSI lumens for a significantly brighter picture. Samsung states that The Premiere is the first projector of its kind to support the filmmaker mode, designed to allow viewers to initially watch movies as directors.

You will not necessarily need a streaming device in conjunction with Premiere because the projector is loaded with Samsung’s Tizen Smart TV platform and all major streaming services supported by that operating system. You will also get some mobile connectivity features such as tap view and mirroring to send compatible content from your mobile device directly to the projector.

picture quality

This is a difficult category to discuss because we haven’t seen Premiere in action yet, but as mentioned above, it’s got the right features to make for great picture quality if The Premiere stays up to its specs Can.

If it can be, and if it can be of competitive price, The Premiere can be a compelling alternative to traditional 4K display. The projector is probably the best bang for your buck in terms of getting the biggest screen possible. If Premiere can add exceptional picture quality and convenience thanks to its ultra-short-throw design, it may be enough to turn some TV fans into projector avengers.
