Salma Hayek is the latest A-lister in the cast of veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. The much-awaited film will feature pop star Lady Gaga as Patricia Resigni, Guccio Gucci’s grandson Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver).
Rizzoji was abandoned for a younger woman in 1985 by Maurizio Gucci after 12 years of marriage. She was convicted in 1995 of killing her ex-husband on the stairs of his office in Italy.
During the trial, he received the nickname Black Widow and was sentenced to 18 years in 2016 before being released from prison.
Hayek will write an essay on the role of Pina Auriemma, a clairvoyant friend of Regina’s, who reported Deadline.
She joins the cast which includes Al Pacino, Jeremy Iron, Jared Leto and Jack Huston.
“My good friend Salma is very happy to be included in our illustrious cast. I have been talking with him about this Gucci project for 20 years. It is happening now and he is a part of it. Ridd and I are thrilled, ”said producer Gianna Scott.
The screenplay of the MGM film is written by writer Roberto Bentivagna. It will be produced by the Scott Free Productions banner of Ridley and Giannina Scott.
Hayek has recently been featured in the Amazon film Bliss and will next appear in Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. He will also star in Marvel Studios’ upcoming tentpole The Eternals.
