Talking about the late dance director Saroj Khan, actor Saif Ali Khan called him the greatest and most artistic choreographer of the 90s, who could bring music to life with his dance steps. He said, “Saroj ji was the greatest and most artistic choreographer in the film industry when I joined him in 1990. The inclusion of his name in the project benefited the producers immensely and his style of choreography was very important to the film industry.” Was the top talent. Bringing music to life with grace and sensuality. “
Saif remembers working with Saroj Khan and how he took certain steps that ended his trademark dance steps. “I did my first film and first song with him in the tradition, followed by Aashiq Awara, whose title song was a big hit and set my illustrious career. He saw me doing some trademark moves on my knees with some sweat, incredibly hot and crowded sets with no air conditioners and lots of chemical smoke, ”he shared.
He added, “I think my 90s colleagues would only understand these situations.” I finish the move and find that I have torn the knee of my trousers and my leg is bleeding. I told Saroji, or Mastrji as I called him, and he said oh I don’t worry about blood. See where this blood takes you in life ‘He taught me to work hard. I turn off the set light and wrap a cloth around my head and rehearse her steps for hours, without lunch, to fix it; But we were not allowed to change steps to make it easier. It was not his work ethic ”.
Saif then shared how Saroj Khan tailors took dance steps for the actors after realizing their style and personality; “She knew which genre each of us best suited and would create for us.” She rehearsed me for a week for a song I had to do with her and when I arrived on set she made me perform in front of the unit at once. When I finished painting, he said, okay, now forget all this, now you are trying to do something better with the song! I must have performed this song on stage a few hundred times on international tours, often three times at a time! I always owe him this song and for making me a dancing star – an incredible feat.
