Ruby Rose stuns fans by stepping down from lead role on The CW Batwoman before its second season. It was believed to have happened due to injuries sustained during filming or perhaps long hours. More than a year later, she gives her story an update, and reveals the real reason for her exit: She was allergic to the dress.
“I found out I was allergic to latex… unfortunately, my mask is latex,” Ruby Rose Explained. “I was getting worse and worse, because as you get more contact with it, I think you get more reactions. I finally took off[the mask]and my face was just hives. My throat Was spoiled.” The Australian actress said, “It was like it was out of a horror movie.”
She also shared a video of her surgery on Instagram, fueling speculation that it was due to injuries she sustained while filming her stunt, captioning it: “Everyone about my new Pez dispenser marks on my neck I’m asking… a few months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was at risk of paralysis… I had herniated two discs while doing stunts, and they cut my spine I was in chronic pain and still couldn’t feel my arms… Thank you Dr. Bray for all you did and for allowing me to work and do what I love. forever in your debt. and asking anyone why i let them make a video of it.. didn’t you watch the Grey’s Anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? i also wanted to see that when What happens if we go down?”
She later regretted that she did not take long to recover from her injury. “I had surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which probably wasn’t the best idea,” she said at the time. “Most people take about a month or three off before returning to work, so it definitely made it more difficult. But as far as being the lead of a show or a film is concerned – be it action or Emotional ho-in whatever way it’s taxing.”
Then he clarified on Twitter that it was not a stunt Batwoman Due to which he underwent surgery. “So.. for the past few years (decades) I’ve been dealing with a spinal issue,” she wrote. “I am now recovering from a back procedure, but I need to be active, so before I show up in public with my cane and wheelchair, I would like to say that I am fine and going to be fine. I am.”
