Actors Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma are clearly under the spell of Janhvi Kapoor as they dance together in Roohi’s debut song “Pangat”. But, does this mean that men are really enjoying partying with a ghost? Likely to become the next earworm, “Pangat” is a decently made and composed track.
After releasing the teaser over the weekend, the makers of Roohi released “Pungan” on Monday. In the song’s video, we see Janhvi calling Rajkumar and Varun’s characters, who are dressed up as grooms.
Excerpts from the song include Janhvi reminiscent of Angelina Jolie from Melficant, showing off her bridal look and turning into a witch-like character: Mistress of Evil, Cate Blanchett from Thor: Sridevi or Sridevi from Puli. Sachin-Jigar’s composition has a deeply creepy set and a fusion of folk and technical beats.
While we have seen Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao performing their dance art before, it is Varun Sharma who is stealing the show this time. His character seems fishy, yet going with the flow! Hope we get to see more of Varun on the dance floor.
Directed by Hardik Mehta, Janhvi Kapoor in Roohi plays a ghost who kidnaps the bride during their honeymoon, until Rajkumar and Varun come to the rescue. Rohi is the second film in the horror-comedy universe of producer Dinesh Vijan after Stree.
Ruhi, first titled Rooh Afza and later, Ruhi Afzana, was to be released in June 2020. The film was postponed following a coronovirus-induced lockdown.
Ruhi will finally hit theaters on March 11.
