Rick and Morty Gets Another Live-Action Teaser with ‘Pickle Rick’ Theme

Adult Swim has just released a new rick and morty The ad, re-imagining the characters in live-action, is the second of its kind to be released so far. Before that, Christopher Lloyd (back in the future) and Jaden Martel (This, This: Chapter Two) appeared as live-action versions of the Titanic pair, and it wasn’t long before the clip went viral. The latest video, which you can watch below, hints at the Emmy-winning episode “Pickle Rick.”

“Rick, you did it again, didn’t you? Didn’t you learn anything from last time?” Morty asks for pickles at his grandfather’s work table. It refers to a time when Rick turns himself into a pickle to avoid attending family therapy sessions, with disastrous consequences. This time, Rick walks out off-screen and grabs a big piece of pickle, spits it out before telling his grandson, “Are you kidding? Nevermind!”

In the previous live-action Rick and Morty promo, Rick and Morty step into the real world from a portal to a version of Rick’s lab/garage. While the two have plenty of inter-dimensional travel experience, this is the first time they have been seen in a live-action format. After noticing Rick Belches and Morty that they are “home,” Morty looks as tense as ever and comes back with his signature, “O, jeez.”

What’s especially interesting about these promos for many fans is how Christopher Lloyd was brought in to play the live-action Rick. It’s a full circle moment as the animated character was born as a direct parody of Doc Brown, Lloyd’s. back in the future Character. The characters are obviously different in many ways, but what they both have in common is that they are brilliant scientists capable of creating universe-changing contraptions. As a result there is probably no actor better suited to portray Rick than Lloyd.

In the past, Lloyd has suggested that it would be “fun” to make guest appearances on rick and morty. In a 2018 interview, the actor told the Phoenix New Times that he was a fan of the show from what he had seen. He also made it clear that he doesn’t care about spoofing back in the future, so there was nothing to stop him from getting involved somehow.

“I don’t follow it closely,” Lloyd said. “But I’ve watched a few episodes and I have to tell you, I think it’s a lot of fun. I know it’s some kind of parody of Doc and Marty.”

rick and morty is currently in its fifth season which premiered on Adult Swim in June. These new live-action promos come just ahead of the premiere of the season finale, which will air on Adult Swim on September 5.
