After a sluggish 2020, Yash Raj Films is set to hit theaters in 2021. Announcing its slate for the year, the studio wrote in a tweet, “#YRF announces a slate of films for 2021, wants to bring audiences back. Theater!”
Films set for a theatrical release include Sandeep and Pinky absconding on 19 March, Bunty and Babli 2 on 23 April, Shamshera on 25 June, Jayeshbhai Jodar on 27 August and Prithviraj on 5 November. To the surprise of the audience, Shahrukh Khan starrer Pathan has not been included in the list. SRK had earlier said that his next film would be released in 2021. Pathan is being directed by Siddharth Anand and also stars Deepika Padukone.

Sandeep and Pinky Farrar, directed by Dibakar Banerjee and starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, were to be released in March 2020, but were postponed due to the nationwide lockout. The trailer of the film was also released last year.
Directed by Varun V Sharma, Bunty Aur Babli 2 starred Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutant Sharwari, and completed filming during the epidemic. The film brings Saif and Rani back after films like Hum Tum, Tara Rum Pum and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Jadoo.
Shamshera, directed by Karan Malhotra, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vani Kapoor. Ranbir and Sanjay had previously shared the screen during Sanju’s final credits song. The film is described as a dacoit drama in the 19th century. Sanjay Dutt shot parts of the film during his cancer treatment. Sanjay had earlier worked with director Karan in Agneepath, which earned him much acclaim.
Jayeshbhai Jordan, Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles are directed by Divyang Thakkar. Shalini, best known for her performance in Arjun Reddy, makes her Hindi film debut with the film. Ranveer is playing the role of a Gujarati businessman in the film, which also stars Ratna Pathak Shah and Boman Irani.
Prithviraj, Dr. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chillar, Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood. The film Miss World 2017 is Manushi Chhillar’s first film as she is playing the role of coincidence for Akshay’s Prithviraj. It is scheduled to release in theaters on Diwali.
2020 marked 50 years for Yash Raj Films, but due to a coronovirus-induced nationwide lockdown, the studio had no theatrical release.
