Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal held for flouting COVID curbs in Patiala, released later

Police said on Saturday that Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal and some of his crew members were arrested on charges of COVID-19 ban during the shooting of a film in Banur in Patiala district of Punjab.

He was later released on bail, police said.

A police official said that more than 100 people had gathered at the shooting spot in a village in Banur, even in Punjab, which was closed over the weekend.

The officer said Grewal and some members of the crew were arrested from the spot.

A case under Section 188 (Disobedience to duly ordered by public servant) of IPC, related sections of Epidemic Diseases Act and Disaster Management Act have been registered at Banur Police Station.

A few days ago, actor Jimmy Shergill and some crew members were booked for allegedly defying COVID-19 restrictions during the shooting of a web series in Ludhiana.
