The first trailer of the upcoming Marathi drama titled Photo Prem was released on Monday. Directed and co-written by Aditya Rathi, the film stars Neena Kulkarni, Amita Khopkar and Sameer Dharmadhikari in lead roles.
The trailer offers an interesting glimpse into Mai’s world, which fulfills the prayers of an elderly woman who is organized by showing a picture from her childhood days. This makes Mai fearful of her future – what if she too is remembered that way when she passes away? And so to discover that right picture begins. However, there is one small piece – My is photophobic.
So, the question is – will Mai be able to overcome her fears and as a by-product, celebrate life to the fullest and ‘capture’ the present moment, or will she scare away the rest of her life? How will she look once gone? This is an interesting premise, but it can be rancid if not dealt with with gentle and intelligent hands.
Talking about Photo Prem, director Aditya Rathi said in a statement, “Photo Prem is an unusual story of a very common scenario to which everyone can relate. It beautifully portrays the emotional and most common human side of any person where they begin to wonder how the world will remember them once they are present. I am happy to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video which will enable us to reach an audience of the length and breadth of the country beyond the Marathi speaking audience. “
Neena Kulkarni said, “Prem Prem has such a nuanced and thoughtful story and to play the lead role in this film is nothing less than a privilege. The film portrays one of the most innocent and purest emotions, and I did everything in my ability to do justice to the character. The quintessential story of ‘Mai’ in Photo Prem is one that should be shown as widely as possible. It is a film for all and I hope it will be adorned with the same amount of love we made it with. “
Photo Prem will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 7.
