PeopleMover Continues Facing Major Technical Difficulties

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a popular attraction at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. In case you aren’t familiar, the ride takes Guests on the grand circle tour of Tomorrowland, allowing them to see the different attractions located inside the land — Including Space Mountain, Carousel of Progress, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin — as well as getting the chance to people watch from the highway in the sky.

However, if you are visiting Disney World in the near future, you should be aware that this attraction is facing some difficulties. In fact, earlier this week we reported that the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover was having some issues. Now, it looks as though those issues are persisting moving into the weekend.

As you can see in the screenshot below, My Disney Experience showed the PeopleMover as temporarily closed as of 9:50 a.m. this morning.

Additionally, WDW Stats on Twitter reported the PeopleMover was temporarily closed:

The good news is that since original publication, the ride reopened only after a closure of 12 minutes, according to WDW Stats:

Additionally, the My Disney Experience showed the attraction as back up and running with a 10-minute wait at approximately 10:08 a.m. this morning.

However, with that being said, we want to note that the ride has been temporarily closing on and off a few times a day this past week.

Therefore, if you are planning to visit Disney World in the near future, make sure you plan accordingly and continue to check the My Disney Experience app or with a nearby Cast Member for the most up-to-date information.

This attraction has clearly been through a lot this past year and a half. In case you were not aware, the ride was closed to Guests in early March 2020, even before the temporary park closures. But, once the theme parks reopened in mid-July 2020, Guests were hoping to see the PeopleMover open back up with the rest of the attractions, however, this wasn’t the case.

Guests weren’t sure what exactly was happening with this Tomorrowland attraction, but after several delays (and we mean months and months worth of delays) the PeopleMover officially reopened to Guests on April 25, 2021.
