According to well-known leaker John Prosser, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is set for the March launch of its fancy next-generation flagship handset.
Prosper posted a picture on Twitter of the four phones on Tuesday, which appear alongside Oppo’s The Find X3, Find X3 Pro, Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Lite, along with a clear caption The announcement date of March 11 and the shipment date for April are stated. Find the X3’s “Squirrel” camera bump, which appears to house four lenses, making immediate comparisons to the Pro model of Apple’s iPhone 12 line.
Licor Ishan Aggarwal said, “Everyone starts with the iPhone’s comments now, but at least it looks different and kinda cool. Definitely sounds sleeker.”
“I like that companies are trying to do something new and different rather than just copying Apple,” the Twitter user wrote.
Oppo does not shy away from releasing gadgets that draw heavy design inspiration from Apple’s iconic products. Last year’s Oppo Watch was a clone of the Apple Watch with its gently curved display, removable silicone strap and even white packaging.
Oppo is not a household name in the US, but the Chinese company is one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers. It has emerged as a threat to Apple in recent years, with features such as no-noch displays and under-glass sensors not found on the iPhone.
An OPPO spokesman did not immediately respond to a CNET request for comment.
