I saidOnePlus was the best phone ever and over-delivered in every category. , Its price may give you a break. Although the standard OnePlus 9 may not share its older sibling’s pro moniker, it packs in everything that is most exciting about its sibling and comes with a low price to boot.
From its lightning-fast performance to its superb battery, it has been given many great features, which make for a solid phone every day. Sure, it might not be like some of the more awesome features of the phone.or , But with a starting price of over $ 729 (£ 629), it represents an all-round excellent value and is a great phone to consider if you’re not looking the best of the best. (There is no official Australian price, but the UK price converts to AU $ 1,125.)
Apart from its two new phones, OnePlus has also introduced, Which goes for preorder on 14 April.
- Supercharged processor
- Excellent battery life
- Unbelievably fast charging
- affordable price
do not like it
- No official waterproofing
- Camera is good for the money, but not great
Here are five reasons why it is the best OnePlus phone to buy right now.
Better battery life
The OnePlus 9 has the same size battery as its 9 Pro sibling, yet I found that its battery life is much better. Why so? It’s probably all about the screen. At 6.55 inches and 2,400×1,080 pixels, it is slightly smaller than the 9 Pro and with lower resolution. This means that for less pixel light and therefore a drain on the battery is less. In our stay trials, it was impressive for 23 hours, putting it on par with the S21 Ultra and laughing after achieving the 9 Pro in 9 hours.
And don’t worry about that low resolution – I honestly can’t tell the difference between the two screens and certainly not something you’d notice 99% of the time.
Unbelievably fast charging
If you manage to hammer the battery and run low on yourself in the afternoon, the OnePlus 9 has the same 65 watt fast charging as the Pro. It is amazing and can take it from empty to full in about 30 minutes. This is actually quite shockingly quick and it means that it is great for those occasions when you have forgotten to charge it and you need to top it quickly before exiting.
Even better is that the 65-watt fast charger comes in the box, so Amazon doesn’t need to haggle to find a third-party that is compatible. It also supports wireless charging, although it does not have the fast 50-watt wireless charging of the 9 Pro. Personally, I don’t think it’s a lot of damage, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
I fully expected the OnePlus 9 to have a lower-end processor than the Pro, but no, it is packing exactly the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, which is a complete powerhouse. Gaming, photo editing, video streaming – all handled with zero fuss. In fact, there is nothing I can really throw at it that slowed it down.
It is a pleasure to use for your everyday tasks too, thanks in part to the 120 Hz screen refresh rate and clean and easy to use-Bed Software – You will find both these features on 9 Pro as well.
I argued with the 9 Pro that its camera is awesome, but it is not with the Galaxy S21 Ultra or the iPhone 12 Pro Max. While the same thing applies to the OnePlus 9, this phone is not trying to compete with the full elite of the smartphone world, so I can be much more forgiving here.
That said, there have been some compromises on the camera from the Pro version. For example, it has no optical zoom, so you’ll be using standard and super-wide lenses, and the main camera will have a physically smaller sensor. For most shots you probably won’t be able to tell the difference, as it can take even more detail with very great photos. OnePlus 9’s camera colors can sometimes look more muted than the 9 Pro ones, but if you want to give things a great look, there are a variety of built-in color filters to choose from.
Night mode works well (in standard zoom, by the way) and selfies are sharper than the front camera and are well exposed. All in all, this is a great camera for your everyday snaps, but if you want the best pictures around, then you need to look further up the range.
I like the classy design of the 9 Pro and thankfully the OnePlus 9 has very similar visual appeal. There is shiny back and metal edging, clean camera unit and I like the pink-blue tones on my review model too. Its screen doesn’t curve at the edges like the Pro, and overall it seems more midrange than the high-end, but is this really a reason to spend extra? For me, this is perfectly good business.
It also has no official waterproofing, and according to OnePlus it can still shrink a spilled drink or two, it would be better to take extra precautions next time with clumsy friends carrying beer.
When debating OnePlus 9 vs. OnePlus 9 Pro, you have to consider one of the few trade-offs you will need. The thing is inexpensive, it is equally powerful, it has a good camera for most of your daily snaps and has a battery that adds to the fighting.
In short, this is a great do-it-all phone that won’t break the bank and that’s why I think it’s the best OnePlus phone to buy right now.
