NBC Peacock tips: How to get a 3-month free trial, find kids’ shows and more
Earlier this month, more than 20,000 hours of shows, movies, news, sports, curated channels, trending highlights and exclusive originals – almost two-thirds of which you can watch completely free. The stage is home to popular shows such as Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock; Films like The Bourne Identity and Shrek; And a large list of shows and films from a wide variety of networks and studios. (Unfortunately, you won’t get NBC’s biggest hit show The Office on More until January.)
You can stream Peacock on Apple devices such as iPhone and Apple TV, Android phones and Apple devices such as Chromecast, Xbox One console, PlayStation 4 console, Visio Smartcast TV and LG Smart TV. But at the time of launch, you can not see popular.
Whether you cling to the free tier of Mayur or subscribed to one of the premium tiers, check out the new tips and tricks we’ve found so far to help you get out of the new streaming service.
Choose which pricing level is right for you
Peacock’s free tier comprises about two-thirds of the entire list with advertisements (about 13,000 hours of shows, movies, news and sports). The Peacock Premium Tier is priced at $ 4.99 for the full catalog with ads. Paying $ 9.99 per month allows you to view the full catalog ad-free. If you want to upgrade to ad-supported premium or no-ad premium, Peacock makes it easy to compare plans on your account page.
Both premium tiers are the same, with no advertising plan, well, no advertising. The plan will also give you the option to watch offline on mobile at some point in the future. Mayur also notes that due to the streaming rights, some titles – even if you’ve got a no-ad premium – will still be commercials. Switching back for free is easy and you must end your free trial period.
If you sign up for a free tier, you can start watching immediately and it is easy to upgrade to one of the others. It was a smooth transition to ad-supported premiums and only in 30-second ads is the peacock marked with a little orange dot. For example, in an episode of Parks and Entertainment, I only saw three commercial breaks.
Get the best deal
If you are interested in trying out one of Peacock’s premium tiers, you can get a longer free trial by it. Instead of a seven-day free trial, you will get a three-month Peacock Premium for free. Also, if you are already an Xfinity or Cox customer, you can watch the premium service for free.
Set up parental controls
Although Mayur does not have the same reputation for adult shows as HBO, you do not want your children to roam free through your library. Although it does not list kids of the same size as Disney Plus or HBO Max, there are plenty of kid-friendly options. NBC’s streaming service has five different customization options to ensure your family views age-appropriate content.
Just click on the profile icon in the top right corner and choose Settings. From there, scroll to Parental Controls and toggle on it. You can choose Little Kids, Older Children, Family, Teens or Adults. Mayur will give a brief description about each age group, for example Old Kids provides programming for children seven years and older. Most shows will have ratings TVY7, TVY7-FV, TVG and G.
Make your selection and create a PIN. For example, if you choose to set your ancestral control settings for the family – which includes TVPG and PG – a PIN will be required before you can see anything with that rating or rate higher.
Peacock’s browse interface is set up like most streaming services. You will be able to search TV shows, movies, news, children, sports or Latino. Free and premium content are merged together: If you are using a free tier, you will see that premium titles are marked with a purple tag. If you are in the News tab and select Browse, you can see news segment clips and news show clips of Morning Joe, The Rachel Madavo Show, and playlists like MSNBC.
Aside from browsing, you can also explore the channel, which lets you browse the TV Guide-style menu of clips or some shows you can watch live. But be warned that these are not regular TV channels – for example, an office shorts channel only shows clips from shows, not full episodes. The same goes for Saturday Night Live Vault Channel. If you want to watch something quickly, they are fun to flip, but are not the most effective for finding a full episode of the show.
Finally, the trending tab lets you scroll through 10 tile-like pages that begin autoplaying news, late night clips, or sports highlighting. It’s like flipping through 10 popular YouTube clips.
Rotten Tomato Ratings
When searching for a good film to watch (or it’s bad enough, it’s good), Mayur saves you a few steps by including Rotten Tomato ratings on the film’s page. You can see the tomometer percentage by clicking on the film or hovering over it (on the desktop). When I browsed Mayur’s free movie collection on my laptop, some films did not give ratings when I hobbled on it. It seems that Peacock only promotes ratings if it exceeds 60%.
