Mirzapur: A recap of significant deaths in the first season
Updated: September 16, 2020 7:16:03 PM
The first season of Mirzapur was a bloodbath. Even after the series debuted, viewers knew it was going to be a gore ride and the producers kept that promise until the final episode. While violent deaths in Mirzapur had their fair share, there were some deaths that left the audience in shock.
Here is a recap of all the important characters killed in season 1:
1. Vikrant Massey’s Bablu Pandit
Initially, Bablu seemed like the only good man, but with the passage of time, it was clear that he was the brainchild of the illegal operations run by him and his brother Guddu (Ali Fazal). In a dramatic turn of events, Bablu is killed by his arch-nemesis Munna Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma). Although it was clear that these two were at war, it was quite unexpected to see Bablu dying.
2. Sweety Pilgaonkar’s Sweety
Shriya’s sweetie gave Mirzapur an emotional touch as it was her love story with Guddu which was one of the points of conflict between Guddu and Munna. By the end of the season, Guddu and Sweety tie the knot, and she is also pregnant with their child, so at this point, it was very unexpected to see her die, especially at the hands of Munna. Given their history at the beginning of the show, many did not see it coming.
3. Rati Shankar Shukla of Shubhrajyoti Bharat
While Rati’s character may have had less screen time than others, it was her character that set the tone of this story. In the flashback sequence, we come to know that Kalen’s beef with Rati goes back decades and with them still fighting for control of Mirzapur, it was a battle that gave the story its air. So it was quite shocking when Guddu angrily killed Rati Shankar. Given how he was planning to bring Kaleen down, it was expected, but the way it happened was quite shocking.

4. Abhishek Banerjee’s compounder (Subodh)
Through the season, we only heard of him being called a ‘compounder’ by Munna, so you might take some time to remember that his character was actually called Subodh. While his share was small, it was quite integral in Munna’s journey. The compounder lacked allegiance to Munna, so Munna was shocked when he had to cut his throat in front of his father. The compounder had a clever vibe from the start, and looked like he might be the one controlling Munna like a puppet, but things were a bit different for the two.
Watch Mirzapur season 2 on Amazon Prime Video from 23 October.
