kingsman Producer Mark Miller is returning to the action-packed world of spies, this time with Netflix. Mark Millaro has teamed up with the streaming giant for king of spies, with the author writing the graphic novel based on the original Netflix property. Artwork will then be created by selected artists from the comic book community, working from designs created by a creative team at Netflix.
The official logline for Miller’s next attempt at the genre reads; “In king of spies, Britain’s greatest secret agent is facing his deadliest enemy yet – his own death. Diagnosed with a brain tumor and six months to live, retired Sir Roland King looks around the world he has saved so many times and feels he cannot leave us in such distress. There is greed and corruption at every level, the untouchable despots were forbidden to approach them and a system they no longer believe in. He wants to use his remaining time to make a difference with his particular set of skills, and at the same time repair the damage done to his personal life. The most dangerous man in the world has gone rogue and he knows where all the dead bodies are buried. It’s time to go after the real demons…”
Netflix called the graphic novel “a translation of this original Netflix property, written by Miller and will also be produced by a superstar artist chosen from the comic book world based on designs created by the team at Netflix.” There are no doubt plans for a graphic novel to streamline either a series or feature film (or both) in the near future.
“We’ve been working quietly in-house on this for a few years now and we’ve all been discussing it,” Miller said in a statement. “The world of espionage with Kingsman was great for us and a return to the genre was something special. This is that project. I love stories about an old gun-fighter for one last job and this is the granddaddy of them all. Very incredibly violent and emotional, but also really funny.”
king of spies Miller’s Return to the Detectives World sounds like the perfect concept for it, and hopefully it deserves another thrilling read before being adapted into something equally exciting. Netflix acquired Miller’s publishing imprint, Millerworld, in 2017, and has begun adapting many of his best-known works for its streaming platform. Not only does Millerworld give them access to their impressive back catalog, but it also gives them the Miller fantasy Netflix can now put the writer on the case whenever they feel like producing an original work. king of spies Netflix might finally be James Bond, and it’s hard not to notice how much the images of the Titanic detective legend look like Pierce Brosnan …
The announcement comes very quickly after the disappointing cancellation of another collaboration from Netflix and Miller, Jupiter’s Legacy. Canceled after only one season, the streaming giant and comic book writer will instead work toward developing other projects. Jupiter’s Legacy universe, beginning with supercruxes.
