The trailer of actor Fahd Fasil’s much awaited film Malik was released on Thursday. If the trailer has anything to say, director Mahesh Narayanan and his team have killed the political thrill of a seat.
The film systematically highlights atrocities against minorities. In the trailer, we see how officers in uniform plan to assassinate a powerful leader, who is now jailed. But, is it easy to take on such a leader? Probably not.
Fahd Fasil plays the role of Suleiman, a charismatic leader who commands unconditional love and loyalty from the people of his community. He leads some kind of revolution against official forces that try to encroach the lives of his people.
Mahesh Narayanan, who has also written the film, earlier revealed that the film was inspired by real-life events. The film explicitly talks about the displacement of people from minority communities living in coastal areas as politicians and corporations collide for their benefit.
Apart from writing and directing, Mahesh Narayan has also edited Malik. Take-off producer Anto Joseph bankrolled the film, with Biju Menon, Nimisha Sajayan, Joju George, Dillesh Pathan and Vinay Forte also playing pivotal roles. Veteran actor Jalaja will make a comeback on the big screen with this film.
Malik’s team also includes Take Off cinematographer Sanu John Varughase, composer Sushil Shyam (Vardhan, Kumbhalangi Nights, Virus) and sound designer Vishnu Govind.
Malik is scheduled to hit theaters on April 13. The film will be released with Mohanlal’s film Mercam: Arabikadalinte Singham and Nivin Poole’s Tharmukham.
