Hollywood stars Julia Roberts and Sean Penn will headline the upcoming anthology series Gaslit, based on the award-winning podcast Slow Burn. Set in Starz, the first season of the Robbie Pickering-produced show will focus on the Watergate scandal that was brought up in 1974 under the chairmanship of Richard Nixon.
Described as a modern take on Watergate, the show “focuses on untold stories and forgotten characters of scandal – from Nixon’s dumb, opportunistic subordinates, to disgraced Idgahs and their crimes to scorn,” Sad for the whistleblowers who will eventually bring the whole. Roberts will star as Martha Mitchell, a celebrity Arkanson socialite and Nixon’s loyal attorney general, John Mitchell (wife played by Penn).
