Crazy Rich Asians director John M. Chu is pulling out of Disney Plus’s Willow series over a scheduling conflict and the upcoming arrival of a new baby.
In October last year, Disney Plus announced the sequel to Ron Howard’s return to the 1988 classic film Willow with the original series Warwick Davis.
The fantasy drama film produced by George Lucas was about a reluctant farmer (Davis), who plays a key role in protecting the child from a tyrannical queen who swears to destroy her and capture the world.

Chu, 41, said he was not able to work with his heroes, old and new, consultants such as Jonathon Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Merrick, producer Bob Dolman, as well as executive producer Michelle Revan, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and ” Devastated “. Howard
“The production schedule is moving forward due to the ongoing lockdown in the UK, and with a new baby coming this summer (surprise!), The time is simply not going to work for me and my family. As you know, Willow has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid, so I’m devastated that I won’t be able to work with old and new heroes like Kathy, Ron, John, Wendy, Michelle, and Amazing cast and crew they put together, ”Chu wrote in a statement.
The filmmaker was ready to helm the series pilot and also served as executive producer.
