Veteran actor JK Simmons has been placed opposite Sissy Spacek in the Amazon Prime Video sci-fi series Lightyears.
Simmons replaced actor Ed O’Neill, who came on board in March to play the lead role, but was forced out of the project for personal reasons.
According to Variety, Holden Miller is the writer and co-executive producer on the show. Daniel C. Connolly is on board as showrunner and executive producer. Philip Martin is attached to direct.
The series follows Irene (Spacek) and Franklin York (Simmons) after a couple of years ago discovered a chamber buried in their backyard that inexplicably leads to a strange, uninhabited planet.
“They have carefully guarded their secret, but as a mysterious young man enters their lives, York’s quiet existence quickly rises up and they find the mysterious chamber they are well about Knew he could be much more than that. Imagined, “reads the plot.
Martin also executive produces with Jimmy Miller and Sam Hanson. The series is a co-production between Amazon Studios and Legendary Television.
