During quarantine, online watch parties such as these have become ways for cinema lovers to enjoy a communal viewing experience, which has become challenging with movie theaters closing. Kevin Smith also confirmed this news on Twitter, saying, the following.

“We’re in need of a big boat! On Saturday, while I tweet along, check out Jaws with me on the 45th anniversary of the sweep and tell the story of watching this cinematic shark story for four decades! #JawsAtHome Hashtag , And Amity, as you know. The meaning of friendship! “

Jaws Originally a theatrical hit on June 20, 1975. Directed by Steven Spielberg, it was essentially a summer blockbuster hit as you know. The film was plagued with production problems, as they were having a lot of trouble getting complex mechanical sharks to work. Still, those problems led to talent because Spielberg’s short time is more of an approach to an all-time cinematic classic. In addition to critical acclaim, the film grossed a whopping $ 470 million at the global box office, operating from a relatively small $ 9 million budget.

The film usually takes place in the Amity community, located on a peaceful seaside. This small town has reached its core when it comes under the attack of a dangerous great white shark. The city’s police chief, Martin Brody, a young marine biologist, Matt Hooper, and a disgusting shark hunter, Quint must embark on a desperate mission to destroy the animal before attacking again. The cast includes Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary, Murray Hamilton and Carl Gottlieb.

Jaws Paved the way for three sequels of varying quality; Jaws 2 of 1978, Jaws 3-D of 1983 and Jaws: The Revenge of 1987, with a rare difference of 0 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Those wishing to attend this weekend are required to play a hit on a copy of the film at the specified time. For those who want to do something different, Universal just released the 45th anniversary 4K version Jaws. Otherwise, it is currently streaming on HBO and is available for rent through most digital retailers. You can check the announcement from Universal All Access Twitter.
