Panorama Studio International’s producer Kumar Mangat Pathak confirmed on Tuesday that he had brought the Hindi remake rights to the Malayalam hit Drishm 2 – The Ragemation. “With the huge success of Drishm 2, the story must be told with passion and commitment and we as producers are committed to it,” the producer said in a statement.
Drishyam 2 was released earlier this year directly on Amazon Prime Video. And it received unanimous thumbs-up from critics and fans. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal reprized the role of Georgekutty in the sequel, written and directed by Jethu Joseph.
“The story of Drishm 2 resonates among the people and I am very happy that Panorama Studios will take it to a wider audience with a Hindi remake. I am looking forward to it.
It remains to be seen whether Jethu Joseph will also step in to make the Hindi remake. The makers of Panorama Studio International are yet to officially confirm the project’s director and star cast. However, it is reasonable to assume that the producers will retain Drisham in the main star cast of 2015.
Earlier films had Ajay Devgan, Tabu and Shriya Saran in the lead roles. And these actors are also expected to return to their respective roles in the sequel.
Jethu Joseph had the main star cast for the sequel for the next film. And he did the same for a Telugu remake called Drishyam 2. It is not possible that the filmmaker will play different actors for the Hindi remake of the sequel. And yet, the filmmakers are keeping the cards very close to the chest.
Drishyam 2 – Re-starts six years after the events of the first film. It follows the struggles of the Georgekutty family, which has now become the subject of gossip and ridicule in the village.
