It’s hard to resist the silliness of ‘Emily in Paris’ – ClearTips
“Emily in Paris,” a new series on Netflix, Skeptical reactions are aroused by actual Parisians, who are happy to point out the abundant cliché in the story of a young American (played by Lily Collins) who transfers at the last minute to a marketing agency in Paris.
Some of the largely explicit culture clashes are accompanied by moments of equally admirable storylines where Emily’s extremely basic ideas about social media are considered controversial and horrifying by her employer.
And yet, as we discuss the latest episode of the Original Content podcast, we actually found the show delightful – or at the very least, highly available.
Yes, the Paris of the show is a fantasy, but it is a fantasy that we are happy to travel to, especially now. Yes, most of the characters on the show are basically cartoons, but they are entertaining and fun cartoons. And at the end of the day, we are all sucking for a clever, escapist romantic comedy, which is exactly what “Emily in Paris” delivers.
