He will hardly be alone. India may have discouraged homosexuality, but society finds it difficult to accept it to a large extent, starting from our homes.
We are yours, you are also the story of a gay man and a gay woman who are on a road trip together from Delhi to McLeodganj in Himachal Pradesh. The journey progresses physically as they find some domestic truths about each other and how they can be related beyond the duality of sexuality and gender. The film stars Anshuman Jha and Zareen Khan in the lead roles.
Anshuman said in a statement, “This is my most challenging role so far and I am grateful to Harish Sir for considering Veer.” Echoing his thoughts, Zarin said, “As Veer and Mansi’s life changes after their road trip, we are single too, you too Ekle has been a life-changing experience for me and I hope that the film Is able to bring back the message that love is love – for even more people as it releases.
The film is directed by Harish Vyas, who earlier made it to English with Sanjay Mishra, Anshuman and Pankaj Tripathi.
The film won the Audience Choice Award at the HBO South Asian Film Festival in New York, as well as the ‘Best Actor’ Jury Award for Anshuman Jha at the Rajasthan International Film Festival. It was also shown at Kashish, India’s largest LGBTQ film festival. Harish Vyas will direct on Disney + Hotstar on 9 May.
