Hope farmers get justice, will be relief to all: Dharmendra

Ahead of the seventh round of talks between the central government and the opposing farmer unions, veteran actor and former MP Dharmendra said on Monday that he prays with all his heart that farmers opposing all three agricultural laws get justice today.

Due to the cold and rain, thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting against the new legislations at various borders of the national capital for more than a month.

“I hope that my peasant brothers will get justice today. I pray with all my heart. Every great soul will get relief, ”84-year-old Dharmendra wrote in Hindi on Twitter.

This is not the first time the screen icon has spoken in the wake of the farmers’ crisis.

In December, Dharmendra urged the Center to find a solution to the opposition to agricultural laws.

“I see the suffering of my peasant brothers. The government should do something fast, ”he tweeted.

The government has introduced these laws enacted in September as major agricultural reforms aimed at helping farmers and increasing their incomes, but opposing unions fear that new legislations would make them vulnerable to MSP and mandi systems Is left at the mercy of big corporates.

On Sunday evening, the Haryana Police fired tear canisters at Masani Barrage in Rewari district to march a group of agitating farmers towards Delhi.

The farmers first broke the police barricades near Bhudla Sangwari village and then proceeded towards Delhi in the evening.

A large number of farmers from Rajasthan, Haryana and some other places have been protesting on the Jaipur-Delhi highway for the past several days.
