Dune 2 May Be Ready to Film in 2022, If It Gets Greenlit

For anyone who doesn’t know. new version of Dune Really only half the story. It was always Denis Villeneuve’s plan to tell epic, expansive science-fiction as a whole, and to be similar to Peter Jackson’s approach. Lord of the Rings, that means many movies. However, in this case, only the first part is made, and whether we get to see the rest will depend entirely on how well this film does.

Judging by the mixed reviews, there is a slight shadow of doubt as to whether the story’s conclusion will be told on screen or not. The one person who will no doubt greenlight part two is director Villeneuve, and besides, he believes they will be good to go next year.

“I’d say I’ll be quite ready to go very quickly now,” Denis Villeneuve previously told io9/Gizmodo in detail. “Hurry up [terms of] A film of that size. You still need to make sets and costumes, we are talking about months…. but if the excitement is there and the film is green light, then soon I will say that I am definitely ready for the 2022 shoot. Ho ho ho… I am ready to go and I would say that I would love to bring it on screen as soon as possible.”

Villeneuve has always believed in his vision, and said in previous interviews, “It wouldn’t need a really bad result at the box office. Dune Part two.” According to the director, both Warner Bros. and Legendary were behind the full project, but with so many discrepancies currently at the global box office, it’s unclear who needs to do the film well to get it. Also adding to the already tricky calculation is the day and date release strategy that will see the movie coming out on HBO Max at the same time.

Speaking in a previous issue of Total Film, Villeneuve said, “I am writing [Part Two] Now, and I feel like I’m eight years old again. This is very unusual for me. It’s the first time I’ve experienced it where I’m watching a movie of mine, and I have a moment of deep gratitude, of deep joy, and I say, ‘Thank you, life, for allowing me to bring this to you. Putting cover.’ [laughs] I don’t know how other people will feel about it. But me? When was Denis Villeneuve 14 years old? Thanks.”

It is clear that what used to be a hit before the pandemic and now are two different things. godzilla vs kong Took over $465 million globally and immediately discussed the next installment, while suicide squad has raised around $150 so far and is also being declared as a hit. Based on these data, it seems that even with some dubious reviews, Dune To be a waste of time for Villeneuve’s work on part two would be very disappointing to do.

Dune premiered this week at the Venice Film Festival, and moves to general cinema release/HBO Max streaming on October 22.
