After you turn on the chat features, the Messages app will continue to work and look the same, and you should keep using it the way you always have. The app knows that you are talking to someone via text or some other contact with chat.

The easiest way to tell if a conversation is using old-fashioned text messaging or to start typing new chat features is to look at the text box. If the box says “chat message”, the conversation has typing indicators, read receipts, and other features that RCS Messenger provides.

You can also add responses to messages. Just long press on a message until a bubble appears, presenting you with a few different options, such as, love, laughter, or anger.
