Cruella simultaneously released in theaters and on the Disney+ Premier Access tier (for an additional $29.99) fee on May 28, 2021. The 101 Dalmatations (1961) prequel movie has been well-received, with some cast members already sharing they would be interested in reprising their roles.
Therefore, the news of a sequel to Cruella does not come as a complete surprise. Furthermore, the final scenes of the film in which Roger (Kayvan Novak) and Anita (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) receive Pongo and Perdita certainly set things up for a second installment.

In addition, many fans are looking forward to seeing more of Horace (Paul Walter Hauser) and Jasper (Joel Fry).
Variety provided the following details about Cruella 2:
…Disney is already in early development on a sequel, with director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara both expected to return. It’s unclear whether star Emma Stone is also set to reprise her performance as the dastardly, fur-loving villain, but it’s also unclear how a sequel would work without her.

In addition to Stone’s Cruella/Estella, Emma Thompson could potentially reprise her role as fashion designer — and Cruella’s biological mother — The Baroness, but again, nothing regarding casting has been confirmed.
Variety also shared a quote from Disney regarding Cruella‘s success so far:
“We are very pleased with ‘Cruella’s’ box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney Plus Premier Access performance to date,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A’s in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action reimaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film.”

[Academy Award winner] Emma Stone stars in Disney’s Cruella, which explores the rebellious early days of one of cinema’s most notorious — and notoriously fashionable — villains, Cruella de Vil. Set in 1970s London amid the punk rock revolution, the movie follows a young grifter named Estella and reveals the series of events that cause her to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous and revenge-bent Cruella.
