Despite some odd choices, ‘The Undoing’ lays out a satisfying mystery – ClearTips

Hbo The miniseries “The Undoing” returned in November, but the host of the original content podcast took advantage of the holidays.

Based on a novel by Jean Hanff Korlitz, “The Undying” tells the story of Grace Fraser (played by Nicole Kidman), a Manhattan psychologist whose husband Jonathan (Hugh Grant) is accused of a brutal murder. As the trial turns into a media spectacle, Grace tries to navigate how she feels about her husband and to find out who might be guilty of the crime.

While Jordan had already watched the show, Anthony and Darrell were inspired to cast it due to an email from listener Michael Benedoso, who shared some amusing thoughts on Kidman’s attempt on Kidman’s New York trip – He was called “A” as a result. Expressed through the word world tour. “

We agreed that Kidman’s accent left much to be desired, and that his performance often sounded a bit odd (the latter, at least, perhaps intentionally).

We had other quibbles. For one thing, although the cast are relatively diverse, the story spends most of its time as its rich white friends, as do its rich white friends. And there were probably a few too many red herds that were nowhere near as interesting.

Nevertheless, we were very satisfied in the end. With only six episodes and a lot of plot twists, there really was no time to get bored, and we were particularly impressed with Jonathan’s performance, as Noah Zupp as Fraser’s teenage son Henry and Noma Doomzweni Jonathan’s stalwart lawyer Haley.

We also discussed the recent launch of the Discovery + streaming service, before reviewing the show.
