Child’s Play Remake Director Wants MGM to ‘Get Their Stuff Together’ and Make a Sequel
Director Lars Kuleberg still wants to make one Child’s play Sequel, provided chance. But the ball, at this point, is firmly on MGM’s court. The studio opted to reboot the franchise for the first time in its long history last year and the results were slightly mixed. Although the critical and fan reaction was certainly not bad outside the gate, it was not the financial part they were expecting. Still, Klevberg says the pieces are there to make it happen.
There has been no discussion officially, at least that hasn’t surfaced publicly, about Child Play 2. But, taking to Instagram, Lars Klevberg Expressed a desire to make a sequel. Klevberg would like to bring back the same cast and crew to keep this modern version of the franchise. Here’s what he had to say about it.
“It would be amazing to pull the crew and actors back for each other, but MGM needs to get their stuff together and do it. It’s all there.”
Of 2019 Child’s play Beats something familiar, but updates the concept for very modern times. It centers on a boy, once again named Andy Barclay, who has recently moved to a new city with his mother and receives a special gift from day one. The seemingly innocent Buddha doll becomes her best friend. However, the technologically advanced doll is ending its own life. This time, it was a technical glitch and not through the spirit of a former serial killer. Andy must band together with the other children in the neighborhood to prevent the toy from causing bloody havoc on the city.
Star wars Veteran Mark Hamill voiced Chucky this time. The cast also included the likes of Aubrey Plaza (Ingrid Goes West, parks and Recreation), Brian Tire (Henry)Atlanta, If beale street can talk) And Gabriel Bateman (lights out, American Gothic). Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Rage) Scripted the script. Whether they are playing to make a comeback or not.
In the end, Child’s play Was a modest success. It grossed $ 45 million, working at a box office budget of $ 10 million. While this is not bad, it is not on par with other slasher reboots. Of 2009 On Friday the 13th, For example, earned $ 91 million. Most recently, of 2018 Halloween Grossed a staggering $ 255 million, and it was a comparable budget. It is a question of whether the returns MGM has received will be worth the risk for follow-up.
Meanwhile, the original version of the franchise is set to continue on the small screen. Producer Don Mankini has set up a Child Play TV series called Chick, which will debut in Saifi and USA next year. Brad Dorif will once again provide the voice of the killer doll on the show. But there is a universe in which both versions of the franchise can exist. This news comes to us via Lars Kalberg’s Instagram.
