Production is underway on the much-anticipated second season of the runaway hit Netflix series Bridgarten.
According to People magazine, the head of the new chapter – Jonathan Bailey, who reprises his role of Viscount Anthony Bridgeton, and Simone Ashley – was seen on 30 April at the UK’s Ascot Racecourse.
Ashley, who is a new addition to the show, plays Anthony’s on-screen love interest – Kate Sharma.
Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, Claudia Jesse as Eloise Bridgerton, Ruth Gammell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, and Aditya Andoh as Lady Danbury.
Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, the show is set in a competitive world of regency-era London high society tones during the season, when debutants are presented in court.
The first season, which premiered in December, revolves between romance and older daughter, Bridgeton’s daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Denever) and Simone Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Read-Page).
Last month it was announced that Page, which has become a global heartthrob following the hard success of Bridgerton, will not return for the upcoming season.
The series also stars Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Golda Rochewell, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt and Basie Carter.
Apart from Ashley, Charitra Chandran, Shelley Cone, Callum Lynch and Rupert Young are also part of the second season.
Chris van Dusen is Bridgerton’s show-runner, produced by media mogul Shonda Rimes, known for hit shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.
