The Malayalam film Arakariyam, starring Biju Menon, Parvati Thiruvothu and Sharafuddin, is set for release on several OTT platforms. The Sanu John Varghese-directed film, which hit theaters on April 3, will now release on May 19 on NESTREAM, Roots Video and Kew.
Instagram handle of Malayalam OTT platform NESTREAM shared a photo, writing, ‘Arcarium will be available on NESTREAM from May 19.
Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta gave Arakariam three stars and wrote in his review, “This is a film that is about the most unnatural year in the most natural way of life, chaotic, seeking anchor, and some kind of closure.” Presents where we were all forced to live in isolation. This is the kind of movie where less is more: you see Shirley leaning her head on the pillows of a C-shaped airplane that hangs from a car window, and you know that people in the car are on long drives. Aware of the fatigue that comes with it. This is a small detail, but it is telling. Parvati, her face without makeup (this is what real people look like; not a makeup look without makeup that takes hours to get right) gives a heartfelt performance, and both men are fine too. And the film makes you think, can we ever know someone fully? What’s the quietest under the surface? Who really knows? “
The digital release of Arkarium is followed by the OTT release of other Malayalam films such as Operation java (ZEE5), Nayattu (Netflix) and Nizali (Amazon Prime Video).
