Actor Bill Hyder has revealed that the writing process for the third and fourth seasons of his critically acclaimed dark comedy Barry is complete.
Hyder discussed the status of the third season during his appearance in Late Night with Seth Meyers.
“At the same time when the lockdown took place in March, we were a week away from shooting. The last time I was in a room with lots of people, there were tables to read episodes one and two of season three and we were ready to go. And then it all stopped.
“Season three is completely written and ready to go, and during the time we actually went and wrote season four, we both did that kind of work. We are waiting until we can start shooting again. “
The show features actor Bill Heather as the titular character, a gloomy hitman from the Midwest who finds himself involved in a community of acting students while working in Los Angeles.
Hyder along with Alec Berg received three Emmy Awards including Outstanding Lead Actor in the Comedy Series in 2019.
The show premiered in March 2018 on HBO after a second season in March 2019.
The premium cable TV network renewed the show for a third season in April 2020.
Barry also stars Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carigan, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, D’Arcy Kardon and Henry Winkler.
The show is executive produced by Berg and Hyder, while Ada Rodger serves as co-executive producer.
