Aquaman Director James Wan Explains Why He Wanted to Return to the DC Universe

the director, James Wan, currently running Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, does not like to repeat himself; So what is it that persuaded him to return for the DC sequel? Well, the filmmaker has now revealed everything, explaining that, much like in the horror franchise Magical And Cheat, Wan himself helped shape these characters within this world, and he seems to have a lot more story to tell.

“I would say the thing that really got me excited to come back is finding a story that I think deserves and if not better than the first film. And for me, really, when I do a sequel But come back, was it for insidious 2 Or The Conjuring 2, and now Aquaman 2 What helped shape and create these characters is what I eventually fell in love with, and I feel like I haven’t worked with them yet. So I feel like I owe him another story.”

Wan, who is currently in London and starting to prepare for filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, ultimately felt that the follow-up would allow him to “continue to the next chapter in the story of Arthur Curry, and the story of Orm, and the story of Mera, and the story of Black Manta.” The director credits screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick for “finding a really good story to bring back all these characters and then developing them extensively and taking them to the next level or the next chapter in their lives.”

In addition to developing deep-dwelling characters, Van sees Aquaman 2 As the perfect opportunity to build on the foundation he laid in the first film and explore the mysterious underwater world.

“The first film introduced the audience to such a vast world that was only scratching the surface. And I feel like I can dig deeper into that now and expand on that more. That’s when I feel I have nothing more to say, that’s what I hold back. But that’s not the case with the Lost Kingdom right now.”

After being convinced to return a second time, does Wan think he will lead a third aquaman Brave act? For those hoping for such, it looks like it will be something very special. “There’s a reason I don’t make three movies in the same series,” Wan said. “It would be lucky for me to make a sequel. And then after that, I just get bored. I want to do something different.”

While plot details remain largely a secret, the film’s title is a bit cheap. as well as title lost kingdom, the DC sequel was recently given the intriguing working title, Necrus, which may provide some insight into the plot. Nekrus should be familiar to DC fans as the name of another underwater city, similar to Aquaman’s original Atlantis. It is unique in that it exists only for a very short period of time and can never be found twice in the same place. Known as “The Black City”, Nekrus is ruled by a tyrannical king and is completely militaristic, which should prove a challenge for the underwater superheroes Nekrus to be a part of the story.
